Elementary

Our Vision for Elementary Ministry

We love and value families at Citizens Church. We believe that parents and guardians are called to be the primary disciple-makers of their kids. But our hearts are to partner with parents of elementary schoolers to raise up the next generation, building a strong gospel-centered foundation. We do this through age-specific discipleship at church and by providing tools for families to fulfill their call to make disciples in their homes.

We focus on teaching our elementary kids the attributes of God

Generous

God gives what is best.

Wise

God knows what is best.

Loving

God does what is best.

Good

God is what is best.

Our weekend ministry for elementary children

Our weekend ministry for elementary children

Our weekend Elementary ministry is available at each of our services. Children are placed in classrooms based on grade and gender (after 1st grade) before going to large group. You can check in 20 minutes before service and drop off 15 minutes before service.

How we teach

How we teach

Kids attend a large group gathering where we worship through song and hear a teaching from the Bible. We build on the foundational truths from our Preschool Ministry and focus on God’s Big Story by teaching the Attributes of God, Promises of God and People of God

Next, they attend small groups where they dig deeper into the lesson they heard during large group, play games, do crafts and learn a monthly memory verse.

Each week we provide a Family Discipleship Resource (FDR) for you to use at home. These are also available on our resource page.

Safety protocol

Safety protocol

We require all of our volunteers working with children to pass a regular background check and to complete a Ministrysafe training to ensure we do everything we can to keep our kiddos protected and safe.

Every week we provide a Family Discipleship Resource (FDR) for you to use at home. This resource is designed to help you have conversations around what your child learned in class that week.

Sermon Notes for Kids

Sermon Notes for Kids

If your elementary-aged kiddos join you for “big church,” we encourage you to have them use our sermon notes.

Growing Families

Growing Families

3 – 4 times a year we announce births and adoptions at our Celebration Services. We love celebrating growing families and praying for you as you parent and disciple your children. Let us know your family has grown so you can be included in the next Celebration Service.

Family Baptism Class

Has your child recently accepted Jesus as their savior or is asking questions about baptism? Our Family Baptism Class is designed for families to attend together and is great for children who believe they are ready to be baptized and for those who are just beginning to ask questions. This 3-week class includes an overview for parents and age-specific teaching about the gospel, what baptism means and why we do it. This class helps you and your child be prepared to be baptized at our next Celebration Service.

We are always in need of volunteers in our Elementary ministry

We are always in need of volunteers in our Elementary ministry

Are you looking for a place to serve at Citizens Church? We encourage you to consider volunteering to help lead and minister to our preschoolers. There is something for everyone and serving positions vary from greeting families to leading worship to leading a classroom.

Have children in other age groups?

We have age-specific gospel-centered programming for your whole family. These environments are safe and secure, as we have strict processes and procedures, including background checks for all volunteers.
