Our Mission: Citizens of heaven Enjoy God. Love people. Make disciples.

Enjoy God

Know, love, trust and obey King Jesus above all else

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to “Love the Lord God with all your heart, soul and mind” (Matt. 22:27). The Westminster catechism reminds us that the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. But as flawed, broken people, we are prone to worship and enjoy other things—even good things—more than God. By default, we love creation over the Creator, running to the things of this world for our identity and meaning. We were created to worship God and we flourish most, finding joy, freedom and purpose in our lives, when we love and enjoy King Jesus more than anything else.

At Citizens Church

We enjoy God through Sunday gatherings, study, prayer, music, Training classes, Recovery, Home Groups, Steps and Next Gen ministries.

Love People

Loving & serving all people with the love of Jesus

Jesus said the second greatest commandment was to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” God made us in His image, as people who reflect His love and kindness to everyone around us. Though our sin causes us to look inward and live in a way that serves ourselves, the gospel frees us and compels us to look outward and live in a way that serves others. Because God is hospitable, we are hospitable. The mark of God’s people is love, using our gifts and resources not to make our lives better but to help our family, friends, neighbors and even enemies flourish.

At Citizens Church

Our lives should be marked by love, service, sacrifice and encouragement to those inside and outside the church. At Citizens Church, we love people through Sunday gatherings, volunteering, Home Groups, membership and giving of our time, talents and money.

Make Disciples

Proclaim Christ and His Kingdom in word and deed

Jesus gave His disciples a mission before leaving this earth and ascending into heaven. He told us to “make disciples of all tribes, tongues and nations” (Matt. 28:19). Combined with the Great Commission, God tells us to do justice and pursue righteousness as we walk humbly with Him (Micah 6:8). This is the call to push back darkness in our world, to bring order out of the chaos. We shouldn’t add to the suffering and evil on earth, but we should speak a better word and do a better deed. Our words and our actions should be a proclamation and invitation into Christ and His kingdom to come.

At Citizens Church

We are called to proclaim Christ and His kingdom from our neighborhoods to the nations in our words and our actions. At Citizens Church, we make disciples through Sunday gatherings, Home Groups, Classes, evangelism, and local and global missions.

So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.

Ephesians 2:19
