Students Minister

The Students Minister will serve to accomplish the vision of Citizens Church within the context and culture of students in middle and high school. This position will provide leadership, vision, and direction to students, their parents or guardians, and volunteer leaders.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning
  • Long range planning for the Students ministry
  • Assist in missional efforts and activities to Plano area and ends of the earth
  • Assist in development of intentional ministry to parents
  • Work with the Kids ministry towards a holistic family discipleship philosophy of ministry and seamless flow from Kids to Students
Tactical Execution
  • Overall execution and oversight of Unite on Wednesdays
  • Lead solo where needed in the absence of other leadership
  • Able to move between high school and middle school groups depending on need and season
  • Participate in student evangelistic efforts in schools, clubs, and teams (FCA, YL, Cru)
  • Assist in the Kids ministry as needed
    • Teach at KidCity on Sunday mornings
    • Serve monthly (1x) in classrooms during the 9am or 11am service
    • Provide assistance at CitiCamp primarily through oversight of student leaders
    • Participate in yearly 5th grade blessing
People Development
  • Provide pastoral care for students, parents, and group leaders when needed
  • Recruit, train, develop, and encourage volunteers and leaders
  • Build rapport and relationships within the Students Ministry population
Administration
  • Communicate with leaders and families - email, letters, texts, calls, meetings
  • Communicate and follow up with guest families and students
  • Communicate with staff, volunteers, parents, and students in order to relay and follow up on specific events, ministry needs, projects, and objectives
  • Organize and attend all Students Ministry events
  • Manage the Students Ministry budget
  • Event preparation, organization, execution, follow-up and adaptation

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Seminary and/or formal ministry training is preferred, but not required
  • Two years of church ministry experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to lead and organize volunteers
  • Participate in all staff activities (i.e. staff meeting, staff prayer, staff retreat, and restore)
