Facilities Associate

The Facilities Associate will support all of the ministries of Citizens Church by assisting in the oversight of the facilities and resources of the church so that ministries can carry out the mission without hindrance. This role requires an individual who thrives in behind the scenes environments and is dependable, takes initiative, and is experienced at problem solving. This role will report to the Facilities Coordinator and work closely with the Operations Manager. Responsibilities for this role will vary greatly and will require a flexible schedule.

Job Responsibilities

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Open and close the church building before and after events
  • Prepare room setups, schedule HVAC, and maintain cleanliness for events and meetings
  • Visually inspect facilities for unsafe areas and assist in repairs
  • Maintain an awareness of the church calendar and for upcoming events and meetings
  • Change non functioning light bulbs and ballasts
  • Light electrical work (repair electrical outlets or switches, etc.)
  • Light plumbing work (residential toilet repairs, etc.)
  • Notify Facilities Coordinator of areas in need of major maintenance or repairs
  • Respond to facility ticket requests
  • Be available on-site to give access to vendors when needed
  • Give instruction and oversight to vendors when the Facilities Coordinator is unavailable
  • Assess the quality of work being performed by vendors and report any issues to the Facilities Coordinator
  • Manage time to balance support between the needs of facilities and ministries
  • Help schedule volunteers interested in assisting the facilities department
  • Assist in properly training volunteers on work needing to be done
  • Ensure tasks, communications, and events are well organized, clear and consistent
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Basic knowledge of power tools, hand tools, and the operation of basic custodial equipment is recommended
  • Basic knowledge of sheetrock, minor electrical, carpentry, and plumbing repair is recommended
  • Self-starter, learner, flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, etc.)
  • Proficient in administrative systems and platforms (e.g. Google or Office suite, etc.)
  • Able to make decisions, problem solve, manage conflict and work well on a team
  • Demonstrate good time management
  • Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Able to lead volunteers
  • Project and/or event management experience preferred
  • Compensation: $20.00 per hour
